Rainbows Children’s Hospice
During its £4m Building for the Future extension and refurbishment project, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People was able to make VAT savings of over £175,000 thanks to our financial advice.
As with many charities, Rainbows is not VAT registered, meaning it cannot reclaim VAT payments on many of the goods it purchases. We understood the dilemma and realised that by utilising VAT reliefs and exemptions available to charitable organisations they could help save the charity a lot of money.
Ultimately, it meant that Rainbows was able to invest that money and appoint more care staff to run the six additional beds created as part of the building project.
Chief Executive, Geoff Ellis, comments, “The advice given by Newby Castleman was truly valuable in helping Rainbows to save such a substantial sum of money. In this economic climate, raising funds for the charity is particularly tough. It just goes to show that, with sound financial advice, positive changes can be made.”
John Griffin, Partner at our Leicester office, comments “Rainbows bears a huge responsibility for providing essential support and services for families across the region. However, with such demand, ensuring they receive the right advice can result in great things and we are proud to have Rainbows not only as a client, but be there to help them grow.”
Geoff Ellis adds: “We are extremely grateful to Newby Castleman for all its support with our Building for the Future appeal, both through its fundraising activities and professional help, which have made a real difference to us and will improve services even further for our young patients.”
