Amal Bathia – AAT:

I joined Newby Castleman in September 2013 after completing my A-Levels for which I studied Maths, Accounts and Business studies. I applied for the AAT training contract in January 2013 and was offered the position in August. During this, I undertook a week’s work experience at the firm which gave me a real insight into the accountancy profession which I found very helpful and interesting. Meeting all my future work colleagues was a pleasure and I really enjoyed my time in the office.

I have always wanted to go into the accountancy profession and was always set on going with the AAT-ACA fast track route as I could complete the qualification quicker and gain valuable work experience at the same time. An additional benefit was not incurring university fees and therefore getting into debt.

I have been with the firm for just over 6 months now and have loved every moment of it. I am studying towards my AAT qualification which I hope to complete in the next year, leading on to the ICAEW qualification. In the office I have done work for a number of clients. This involves the accounts preparation for sole traders and Partnerships.

Newby Castleman is a great firm to work for. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and I felt settled from the day I started. There are many work socials organised which I did not expect when I joined the firm, however these are most enjoyable. It allows everyone to have a good time outside of the office with each other.

My time at Newby Castleman so far has been great. Newby Castleman have been really supportive of me and I hope to have a successful future at the firm.
