CHRIS CASTLEMAN FCA
My client portfolio includes many trades and professions including solicitors, manufacturers, professionals, retailers and property companies. Within my current role as a Managing Partner I specialise in advising on all aspects of the financial health of family businesses, primarily in the East Midlands. Clients include sole traders, partnerships and larger audit clients. I am also responsible for many of the firm’s high net worth clients, dealing with not only tax compliance issues, but also involvement with tax planning to ensure preservation of family wealth.
MIKE CASTLEMAN BFP FCA
I specialise in advising private family businesses. My clients span numerous industries, including solicitors, financial services companies and farmers. I provide advice to small sole traders up to larger audits and my responsibilities involve addressing my clients’ accounting and taxation needs. I am also responsible for Newby Castleman LLP’s accounts and am currently the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
JACQUELYN KIMBER BA (HONS) CTA ATT
I have over 20 years’ experience advising individuals and businesses on a wide range of tax matters, including share incentive schemes, reorganisations and succession planning. I have a special interest in trust taxation, and advise both UK and offshore trustees in relation to UK tax matters. I also work closely with Joanne on the administration of estates. I am a co-author of The Tax Advisers’ Guide to Trusts (Butterworths), Intellectual Property Law & Taxation (Sweet & Maxwell) and edit the annual Capital Gains Tax and Corporation Tax guides published by Butterworths. I am also a frequent contributor of articles to a number of tax and accounting publications.
JOANNE CHILTON BFP FCA
I have over 30 years’ experience working with owner managed businesses covering a wide spectrum of sectors in the East Midlands, including wholesalers, engineers and farmers. My clients range from individual tax cases, sole traders and family partnerships up to corporate entities subject to audit. I advise on key areas including accounting, business growth and tax efficiency with a view to meeting HMRC and Companies House compliance requirements. In recent years I have also become involved in estate administration working alongside our tax partner, Jacquelyn, in assisting clients with estate matters. I find my role as Student Training Partner very rewarding as I see our trainees progress on their journey to become fully qualified Chartered Accountants.
JOHN GRIFFIN FCCA
I have 35 years’ experience advising successful family businesses and not for profit organisations. I work with Leicestershire, Rutland and London based SME clients, covering a broad range of industries, providing key business and tax advice to help them manage sustained growth and tax efficiency. Other areas of expertise include due diligence, group structure, succession and exit planning.
ANNALISE LOVETT FCCA
Based in Loughborough, I have been with Newby Castleman since 1990 and am very proud to have become the firm’s first female partner in 2010. As a General Practice Partner advising private family firms, I deal with the accounts of all types of business across various industry sectors. I advise on business start-ups, VAT, payroll and tax planning matters, both personal and corporate. In addition, I deal with HMRC tax enquiries. I also have a role on the firm’s marketing team.
PAUL BARNETT FCCA
I look after a wide range of clients spanning a variety of business sectors, encompassing retail, wholesale, transport, nursing homes, manufacturing and farming. I provide all aspects of advice including audit, accounts, corporate and personal taxation and business advice. My clients include new business start-ups, partnerships and companies. My specialist area is working with charities and not for profit organisations, working closely with local and national organisations. Within such an area, it is essential to ensure that complex financial and tax legislation is followed and that VAT is correctly applied and understood.
SCOTT BRADFORD BSC (HONS) ACA
I joined Newby Castleman from a Medium sized practice in the East Midlands, and was appointed as a Partner at the firm’s Loughborough Office in 2020.
I have over 10 years’ experience in the accountancy profession, priding myself on my hands-on, approachable style and building long standing relationships with clients.
I provide all aspects of support and advice in respect of audit, accountancy, corporate and personal taxation and VAT; working alongside owner managed businesses from small sole traders to high turnover Limited Companies.
I specialise in advising on new Company start-ups, and providing continued support to help client’s successfully grow their businesses.
BRENT GOODWIN ACA
SENIOR VAT MANAGER
I joined the practice as a trainee chartered accountant and after qualifying trained to become the firms in house VAT specialist. I provide advice to staff and clients. I also undertake in house training and carry out ad hoc assignments for existing and new clients. VAT is a complex, challenging and ever moving tax which, despite popular perception, can be interesting, honestly!

I joined Newby Castleman in 2012 and have progressed through the audit team to my current role, Head of Audit. This involves staff allocation, audit scheduling, monitoring progression, and overseeing the completion of audits. I enjoy being involved in the social activities organised by the firm, which range from quiz nights to car treasure hunts.

I’ve been with Newby Castleman since 1988. I started as a trainee chartered accountant and over the years have progressed to manager. I look after a number of the firm’s solicitors and FCA regulated clients.
TIM HEMS BA FCA
I began working for the firm in 2002 as a graduate student trainee. Following qualification, I was trusted with growing responsibility which led to my current position as department manager, a role I thoroughly enjoy. I am heavily involved in mentoring the firm’s current student trainees. I enjoying taking an active role in organising the firm’s social activities.
MICHAEL FROST BA (JOINT HONS) ACA
I have worked with a variety of different clients since joining Newby Castleman in 2011. This has helped me develop into my current role where I manage audit and non-audit clients, this includes charities which I have a special interest in. I am responsible for liaising with clients, scheduling jobs, and staff allocation.
As practice manager, I run the firm’s internal accounts, administration and operational matters with my small but reliable team. I am constantly looking at new and improved ways of delivering detailed analysis and reports to the partners to assist them in making decisions to drive the business forward.
I have been at the firm for just over 3 years and have enjoyed developing the digital space for Newby Castleman. I manage our events, website, press releases, social accounts, case studies, and seminars. I enjoy working for our family run firm and feeling like part of the extended family.
LEE MORTON FCA
The majority of my time is spent assisting family businesses, providing advice and assistance in the areas which without own internal resource, clients can look to us for expertise, including tax, VAT and the ever increasing burden of compliance and bureaucracy. I’ve been with the firm a little over 40 years!
SENIOR IT MANAGER
I joined Newby Castleman in 1982, becoming IT Manager in the early 1990’s; installing and training clients on accounting and payroll software and internally the first line support for staff with the ever increasing computerisation of our working environment. Recently, this has included cloud based solutions for both ourselves and clients.

I have worked in the tax profession for over 25 years. My experience consists of helping individuals, owner managed businesses and trustees’ meet their compliance filing obligations and take this stress away from them. I enjoy building strong client relationships and advise clients on various tax planning matters from capital gains tax, inheritance tax, succession planning and arranging their tax affairs to minimise tax liabilities and ensuring all available reliefs are maximised.
