Second year sponsoring Leicester Cathedral

Last week we sponsored the Guild of St. Martin Annual Dinner for the second year running. Now in its eighth consecutive year, the Leicester Cathedral dinner has become a key date in the calendar for individual and corporate members of the Leicestershire community.

This year’s dinner was held last Thursday in the nave of Leicester Cathedral and featured special guest speaker Michael Kapur OBE, the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, who looked back on his first year as the Queen’s representative for the county.

The black tie event was compèred by BBC Radio Leicester presenter Monica Winfield and was attended by all of our partners. Dinner consisted of a five-course menu provided by award-winning Midlands caterers, the Dimblebee Catering Company. The event was co-sponsored by Leicestershire estate agents Andrew Granger & Co.

The Very Reverend David Monteith, Dean of Leicester, said: “I’m delighted that the tradition of this annual event has continued and in such style, especially since we were surrounded by the beauty of the Methodist Modern Art Collection, the second largest modern Christian art collection in the world.

“We are very grateful to Newby Castleman for their continued sponsorship and ongoing support for our Cathedral, Guild of St. Martin, city and county.”

The Guild of St Martin is a patron scheme for individuals and businesses, income from which provides sustainable support for Leicester Cathedral’s running costs. Annual membership starts at £250 and, along with funds raised through events such as the Guild Dinner, contributes towards the Cathedral’s running costs and helps keep the building open each day of the year.

Partner John Griffin said: “It was an absolute pleasure and a privilege for us to sponsor and attend the Guild Dinner for a second year. This event affords local people and businesses the opportunity to come together in support of an historically significant community building, which benefits Guild members, Leicester Cathedral and the community as a whole.”
